Medical practice in the HMO age is trying to optimize the doctor's time. If they squeeze in more office visits or surgeries, even if they have to spend some money on hardware or have low-cost labor do something additional, it's a win for them. > I envision a doctor finishing an operation. Hospitals change procedures all the time to meet the requirements of new laws, equipment, etc. Maybe it's designed to automatically slip out when the garment is taken off. That's a nice feature of being able to custom design hardware with molded cases, integrated cables, etc. > > address the dork factor > I really don't think doctors care about this. Not in surgery, but that's not where doctors spend the bulk of their time. If the patient is put off by talking to a doctorborg wearing a bunch of visible equipment with wires running down his arm, the doctor will care. I appreciate that you've tried a version of this. But I don't see that your experience means they should just give up because you tried something like it with homebrew hardware to meet your different needs. I'll try to make this my last post on this subject as nothing new seems to be being said.
