Re: Sleeve display, who uses a wearable on this list

Steve,

Having everything embedded into a jacket was actually
very convenient. There is nothing to grab aside from
the jacket itself. If you suddenly need to run out the
door, you don't need to search for cables, adapters.
Having the wires run inside the lining means they
can't get caught on anything. Also, I found that the
wrist IS an ideal location for occassional access to
info. I actually wore that jacket all the time, and
took it all over the planet too. But I did it mostly
because "you can" and for "wow factor" which doesn't
translate to read world viability. The wrist watch
is not the same, it's removable and it's not tied to
the clothing. Like I said, try it before you say
"come on now". I actually plan to make another one
because I like it, but there isn't a lot of good
arguments for tying the hardware to clothing. You
can't change jackets! Okay, then you get into the
ability to swap. I actually explored that. I was
thinking about having wiring harnesses in multiple
jackets so I could easily move the hardware. Play
the scenario all the was through and it's cumbersome,
expensive, and chock full of problems.

I envision a doctor finishing an operation. What
does he do with his smock? He throws it in a bin.
Now he has to remove the display and throw that
in another bin. Either that or some other person
has to do it. So now they need procedural changes
just to support having this whiz bang computer IN
their clothing. I think they would laugh at the
idea. If otoh it WAS like a wrist watch, then it
is not tied to clothing, that makes more sense.

I really don't think doctors care about this.
