Exactly ... and I suppose that the folks who need the tech the most don't have the right insurance, requirements, etc. This is why, some day, somehow, I want to do this for the right reason, to help people ... because I think it the right thing to do. I believe if one makes a conscious decision NOT to make a large profit margin, or perhaps even make it a non profit org, that these devices could be a lot cheaper, more accessible to more people. Also, the free software movement WILL make a different. Check out the prices on assistive software too. Youch.
