On most machines this is true...not sure on my Toshiba, but it's a pretty
safe bet.  (I learned never to make absolute statements with regard to
computers in general, and notebooks in particular)

I think I'm going to take Doug's suggestion and do a UMSDOS install,
which I can just preload onto the hard drive from my sacrificial Dell.

I found my old 10bT PCMCIA card, so hopefully it'll be supported,
and I can rig a quick network without too much trouble...this sounds
like the way to go.

Thanks for the help, suggestions, and offers...it warms my heart to know
that there are still people online who don't exist only to sell me a
place
under them in their downline.  ;-)

Keep those suggestions handy, guys...I'll be starting the install soon,
and
will likely have a question or two more.

BTW:  Nice to hear from you again, Doug...
