i've spliced a cell phone hands-free earbud to have a standard heahpone
and microphone jacks for my wearable. i don't do much voice control or
feedback at the moment, mostly use it for quick notes and listening to
music. noone thinks twice about seeing these hands-free kits in public.

eventually, i'd like to move to a bluetooth headset, but lack of
direct support under linux and mixed reviews of available units
have held me back.

in the interim, i picked up a pair of vox headsets for ham radios at
the clearance section of radio shack over the weekend. haven't played
with them yet, one is in need of heavy repair.
