No, I don't think so.

It recognizes all the right ascii characters (though it lacks a full ascii
set) for you to get recognizable output from a serial line, but the
BOB-II (which I use, obsoleted by the BOB-III) is definately not ready out
of the box for console apps.  Most significantly of all it doesn't handle
ansi (or vt100) codes for char positioning, etc.  It has it's own control
code set for that.  You'd need to do some kind of translation - either in
software or hardware (assuming your apps would also understand a funny
screen resolution like 11x28 or whatever it is (I don't recall at the
moment).

But it's small and while not cheap, it's at least still within hobbyist
price range.
