Definitions: Detournement


Détournement is short for "détournement of preexisting aesthetic elements."
[Détournement]... is the art of appropriating common objects or images from their usual cultural contexts and resituating them in an incongruous, disturbing, and disorienting fashion in order to confront, question, or challenge society's stereotypes or biases.
